Love Russia is able to provide various typs of mission opportunity.
- STOP teams (Click here for 2012 STOP team opportunities)
- Gap years for students over 21 , spend 9 months in Russia assisting to teach English in local schools as well as helping the children in orphanages with play, activities, studies and more
- Skill sharing (see below)
Volunteers on longer misson trips need to be self-sufficient and confident in their ability to cope in a different culture. They will need to have had experience of living away from home, preferably in a foreign cultural environment. Some knowledge of basic Russian will be a great ‘head start’ and being able to learn the language quickly will be vital as they settle into the community. They will have their own bedroom and will share the meals cooked at the orphanage.
Love Russia is running these placements in association with 'Time for God' and 'Agape'. For more details visit the Time for God website page for Love Russia placements.
Skill Sharing
Love Russia has arranged for a number of people with specific skills to visit Russia both to learn of the situation there and to share their skills with local professionals. To date these have included nurses, musicians, physiotherapists, dentists, an ecologist, and several teachers including specialists in Special Needs education.
If you have a specialist skill which you could share (it doesn’t have to be medical or educational) and would be willing to visit Russia please contact the Love Russia office so we can discuss the possibilities.
Note: Love Russia is not able to provide financial support for these visits and skill sharers need to fundraise or meet their own travel costs, but we can arrange contacts, set up the visit and provide other advice and support.
