God is performing miracles and creating new life everyday as we saw during our visit to Orphanage No 61. A New Life. The room is bright on this September day. Autumn sunshine is struggling to break through the clouds and creates a golden light across the floor. Six children aged between 4 and 5 years old are sitting on small chairs around a low table finishing their afternoon snack. Their helpers are encouraging one little girl to leave her chair and go to see the visitors. I kneel on the floor just two metres away and hold out my arms. Her strong boot shoes are checked to make sure they are not loose and she slides to the floor. At first she clutches the hand of the helper then with a determined look on her face she lets go and shakily puts one foot in front of the other, a wobble .. her tongue comes out but the next foot is placed, then another and another. As she reaches me arms outstretched a beatific smile spreads across her face and I hug her though I cannot see through eyes wet with tears. Anya can walk! The helpers are excitedly trying to explain to the children that we helped pay for their operations and brought the special boots and leg strengtheners that had enabled them to learn to walk after a lifetime of lying or sitting. We, in turn, are trying to explain that it is not us personally but through the prayer and support that Love Russia receives it was God that made this miracle happen. We talk of prayer. We are told that Anya is being adopted by an American couple. They would not have been allowed to adopt her if she could not walk as she would not have been eligible. Then we went on to see Pasha, Volva and Andrey also walking. Slowly but surely their lives are changing. We were able to take photos of equipment

paid for by you, our supporters, and heard of the children’s hard work and determination. The staff didn’t tell us of their own hard work and care but we know how hard they work with the children and can see how thrilled they are on the children’s behalf. Another boy, Dimitry (above) is now waiting for an operation on his legs which will cost around 600 euros. He will then need follow up equipment.
