THE HEART OF THE MATTER
Children are being let down, and carry trauma caused by those who should love them most. Seeing violence and addiction at home impacts young lives - causing neglect, and children who lack basic needs. Without love and guidance, that trauma risks leading them down the same path as their parents.
At a special youth group we support, that story is being changed. For the young people who attend regularly, hope is being restored. Here, they learn they are valued, wanted, and can have a future full of hope - and that Jesus loves them beyond measure.

WHO IS THIS LENT APPEAL FOR?
Melina suffered physical abuse from her mother’s partner, pushing her into substance abuse and a life on the streets. By 14 she was using drugs and running away, and by 16 she was out of control.
18 months ago, she met Russian believers we have partnered with for years. Now age 18, Melina is healing from trauma, growing in faith, and showing remarkable resilience. She has a big heart for younger children and serves as a youth leader.

"
There have been many issues in one particular family, including substance misuse, anti-social behaviour and alcohol abuse. The children don't want to go home. Me, and the team, have built a good relationships with these kids. They all have challenges with reading and writing - their parents just didn't teach them. This is our motivation - to give young people like this a chance"
- Dasha (Youth Leader)
