Alina's ministry, the Women's Crisis Centre project, was initially aimed to help mothers struggling with addiction, but it naturally expanded to support victims of domestic violence. Children from poverty and disadvantage are more likely to develop additional needs, so Alina and her team have been forced to expand their expertise.
Gosha is a child with additional needs living with his mum at the WCC. Alongside providing addiction counselling for Gosha's mum, Alina must also find ways to accommodate Gosha’s severe autism. He requires educational support, specialised equipment, and more supervision than most from the WCC team.
By supporting Gosha's mum in overcoming her addiction and empowering her emotionally and with parenting skills, she is gaining confidence in her ability to achieve independent living and is becoming the parent Gosha needs.
