New Project Coming Up!

It's Springtime, and therefore a perfect time to announce a potential new beginning!
We were approached many months ago by a small UK charity called 'Mayak Foundation'. They asked if we would be willing to 'adopt' their project of 16 years... and after much prayerful consideration, we have said yes.
Like us, they had encountered significant problems with banking and money transfers to Russia over the last few years. Although it has been challenging for us, as a charity with more people and time to dedicate, we have weathered the storm.
What is the Mayak project?
“Mayak” means “lighthouse” in Russian, which reflects the project's aim to offer help and a way out to women who have been trafficked and exploited by the sex industry.
Back in 2010, a former insider, and a woman who was trapped by this industry, felt called back to the streets to help others who are still trapped. Sergey, now a pastor, and his wife, Maria, were motivated by faith and personal experience, to offer practical, medical and emotional support for victims.
Like Love Russia, the Mayak Foundation's role was to raise awareness, fundraise, provide emotional support, and help Sergey and Maria on the frontline with strategic planning - a role we plan to embrace.
NGOs estimate there are 120,000 female sex workers in the Moscow region alone - and that 25% of them are minors. Russia is a common destination for girls from overseas, who are tricked into this dangerous world that is so hard to escape from.
Please pray that in the months ahead we can work through the practicalities to make this handover a reality, and for Sergey and Maria as they get to know us - a relationship we hope will develop into something fruitful for God’s glory.
