Not Enough to Live

Official statistics claim that poverty in Russia is decreasing, but those on the front lines report the opposite. A major charity in Moscow has seen an 80% rise in demand for food and support, and our soup kitchen leaders in Volkhov report the same—more children and elderly people now rely on their services.

Many who visit our soup kitchens work full-time but earn just £187 per month, which is Russia's minimum wage. With essentials costing £70 per week, survival is a constant struggle. Despite this, many are not officially classified as ‘poor’ and lack proper footwear, clothing, or access to a shower. Without mobile phones or the internet, even basic problem-solving beomces difficult. One woman shared, "We cope with just bread and water, which I thank God for."

Our Soup Kitchen Outreach Project provides hot meals twice a week, donated pastries, shoes, and clothing to those in need. With food prices soaring—some essentials, such as potatoes, up by 92%—the crisis is deepening.

60% of Russians now spend more than half their income on food.

Our soup kitchen depends on regular donors to keep serving the most vulnerable. As the need grows, your support is more vital than ever.
